JAFSA respects authors' intellectual property rights and supports responsible, transparent and legally recognized reuse of scholarly research through the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
The Journal of Agriculture and Food Science Applications (JAFSA) is committed to protecting the rights of authors while ensuring that published research can be accessed, shared and reused responsibly. JAFSA's copyright and licensing arrangements are designed to support open scholarly communication, author rights, research dissemination and long-term accessibility.
Unless a specific article is subject to a legally required alternative arrangement disclosed to JAFSA before publication, articles published by JAFSA are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
Copyright Ownership
Authors retain copyright in their published scholarly work.
Authors Retain Copyright
Copyright in an article published by JAFSA is retained by the author(s), unless applicable law requires otherwise or the authors are legally unable to hold copyright in the work.
Publication in JAFSA does not, by itself, transfer ownership of copyright from the author(s) to the journal or publisher. Instead, authors grant JAFSA the rights necessary to publish, distribute, preserve, index, identify and make the article available as part of the scholarly record.
Where an author is subject to institutional, governmental or employment-related rules that affect copyright ownership, the author should notify JAFSA at the time of submission so that the appropriate publishing arrangement can be considered.

CC BY 4.0JAFSA licenses its open access articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
This license allows anyone to copy, distribute, transmit, adapt, remix, transform and build upon the published material in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate attribution is given and the applicable license conditions are followed.

Readers and other users can reuse JAFSA articles under the license terms.
Attribution Requirements
Reuse must acknowledge the original scholarly contribution.
Proper Attribution Is Required
Anyone reusing a JAFSA article under CC BY 4.0 must provide appropriate credit to the original author(s), provide an indication of the source, include the applicable license information and indicate whether changes were made.
Where reasonably practicable, attribution should identify the author(s), article title, journal name, publication details, persistent identifier or official article location, and the CC BY 4.0 license.
Attribution should not be presented in a manner that suggests that JAFSA or the original author(s) endorse the reuse, adaptation, product, service or organization using the material.

Author Certification and Grant of Publishing Rights
By submitting a manuscript to JAFSA, the corresponding author confirms on behalf of all authors, where authorized to do so, that the following statements are true and applicable to the submitted work:
- Authority to Enter the Agreement: I confirm that I am authorized to act on behalf of all co-authors in relation to the submission and the publishing arrangements, or I have obtained the necessary authorization from my co-authors.
- Originality: I confirm that the manuscript is the authors' original work, except for material that is appropriately quoted, cited, acknowledged or otherwise identified as belonging to another source.
- Exclusive Consideration: I confirm that the manuscript is not simultaneously under consideration for publication by another journal, unless this has been expressly disclosed to and accepted by JAFSA.
- Copyright Authority: I confirm that the authors have the necessary rights and authority to submit the manuscript and grant JAFSA the publishing rights described in this policy.
- Third-Party Rights: I confirm that the manuscript does not knowingly infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property or other rights belonging to third parties.
- Permissions: Where material owned by third parties has been reproduced, adapted or incorporated, the necessary permissions have been obtained where required, and appropriate acknowledgements have been provided.
- Research Integrity: I confirm that the work has been prepared and reported honestly and in accordance with applicable research, ethical and scholarly standards.
- Ethical Compliance: Where applicable, the research has received the required ethical approval, informed consent or other relevant authorization.
- Accurate Reporting: I confirm that, to the best of the authors' knowledge, the research findings, analyses, data descriptions and conclusions have been reported accurately and responsibly.
- Disclosure: I confirm that relevant conflicts of interest, funding information and other disclosures required by the journal have been provided.
- Publication License: If the manuscript is accepted for publication, I agree that the article will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license.
- JAFSA Publishing Rights: I grant JAFSA the non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, communicate, host, archive, index and preserve the article as part of the journal's scholarly record.
Author Warranties and Responsibilities
Authors remain responsible for the integrity and legality of their work.
Original Work
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript represents original scholarly work and that sources are appropriately acknowledged.
Accuracy of Content
Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the research findings, interpretations, references, tables, figures and other content supplied to the journal.
Third-Party Permissions
Authors are responsible for securing permissions required for copyrighted material belonging to third parties.
Ethical Research
Authors must comply with applicable ethical requirements relating to research participants, animals, biological materials, data and other regulated research activities.
Disclosure of Conflicts
Authors should disclose financial, professional, institutional or other relationships that could reasonably influence interpretation of the research.
Correction of Errors
Authors should promptly notify JAFSA if they identify a significant error in their published article and cooperate with appropriate correction procedures.
Third-Party Material
CC BY 4.0 does not automatically cover material owned by others.
Images and Photographs
Images, photographs, illustrations and other visual materials owned by third parties may be subject to separate copyright restrictions.
Tables and Figures
Reproduced or adapted tables and figures should be appropriately attributed and supported by permission where required.
Separate Licensing
Where an element is excluded from the CC BY 4.0 license, the article should identify the applicable restriction or rights holder where reasonably practicable.
Research Data and Supplementary Materials
Data may be subject to rights and restrictions separate from the article.
Data Licensing and Availability
Research data, datasets, software, code and supplementary materials associated with an article may be subject to separate licensing, privacy, confidentiality, contractual, ethical or legal requirements.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, publication of an article under CC BY 4.0 should not automatically be interpreted as granting unrestricted rights to every dataset, software component or third-party resource associated with the research.
Where authors make research data openly available, they should provide an appropriate data-use statement and, where possible, identify the applicable data license or access conditions.
Preprints and Prior Dissemination
Prior public dissemination does not automatically determine copyright ownership.
Authors should disclose any relevant prior dissemination of the manuscript, including preprints, conference versions, institutional repositories or other publicly accessible versions, where requested by the journal.
Authors are responsible for ensuring that the proposed publication in JAFSA does not violate any rights or contractual obligations associated with an earlier publication or dissemination agreement.
Where a preprint or earlier version exists, authors should distinguish the published JAFSA version from the earlier version and provide appropriate citation information where appropriate.
Public Domain and Government-Created Works
Special copyright circumstances should be disclosed before publication.
Disclosure of Copyright Restrictions
Authors who believe that their article, or a substantial component of it, is subject to public-domain status, government ownership, statutory copyright restrictions or another special legal arrangement should notify JAFSA before publication.
JAFSA will review the circumstances and determine the appropriate copyright and licensing statement for the publication record. Authors should not assume that a work is in the public domain without verifying the applicable law and ownership circumstances.
Moral Rights and Integrity
Open licensing does not remove rights that cannot legally be waived.
The CC BY 4.0 license does not necessarily waive or eliminate moral rights or other rights that cannot legally be waived under applicable law.
Users of JAFSA content should respect the integrity of the original work and should not use the article or an adaptation in a manner that falsely attributes statements, findings, conclusions or endorsements to the original authors.
AI-Assisted and AI-Generated Content
Authors remain responsible for material submitted for publication.
Author Responsibility
Where artificial intelligence or AI-assisted tools are used in preparing a manuscript, authors remain responsible for the originality, accuracy, integrity, legality and appropriate attribution of the submitted work.
Authors must ensure that the use of AI tools does not introduce copyright infringement, fabricated references, inaccurate information, undisclosed third-party material, plagiarism or other forms of research or publication misconduct.
Where JAFSA's submission or publication guidelines require disclosure of substantive AI assistance, authors should provide the required disclosure in the appropriate section of their manuscript or submission.
Post-Publication Licensing
Maintaining a consistent and reliable licensing record.
CC BY 4.0 Remains the Standard JAFSA License
JAFSA's standard license for open access articles is Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
Once an article has been published under CC BY 4.0, the permissions already granted to users under that license cannot ordinarily be withdrawn from copies that have been lawfully obtained and reused in accordance with the license.
JAFSA may correct the bibliographic, copyright or licensing information associated with an article where an error, omission or legally necessary correction is identified. Such changes will be documented appropriately in the publication record.
Corrections, Retractions and the Scholarly Record
Copyright licensing does not prevent appropriate editorial action.
JAFSA may publish corrections, expressions of concern, retractions or other notices where necessary to maintain the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
A correction or retraction does not automatically eliminate the historical publication record. Where appropriate, the original article may remain accessible with a clear notice explaining the relevant editorial action.
The licensing status of the original article and subsequent editorial notices will be identified appropriately in the publication record.
JAFSA Licensing Consistency
A single standard license provides clarity for authors and readers.
JAFSA Standard: All standard open access research articles published by the Journal of Agriculture and Food Science Applications are licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) , unless a different legal status is expressly required and identified in the individual publication record before or at publication.
